Died of a stroke. Information from Clifton J. Benoit, clifbenoit@@bellsouth.net has her name as "Louise Reine." Roland's obituary lists her as "Mrs. H.P. Walker," a surviving daughter. Also listed in Eleas' obituary. From Norma Dickey, "Roland & Elizabeth's 2nd child was Irene Louise Davis, Born 9 Sept. 1901-- died 5 Oct 1973. She married Harold Preston Walker. He was born 1902, died 1957 in an automobile accident. They lived in Orangefield & High Island, Texas in the early years of their marriage. They had 4 children. Their 1st child only lived 2 days. Their 2nd son Gerald William Walker, born 30 Aug. 1924. He married Gladys (aka "Pee Wee') Burrell. They have 2 daughters. 3rd son Bobby Gene Walker, born 15 June 1927- died 31 Mar. 1964. He was invalid from birth. Aunt Irene, Uncle Press and the brothers along with hired help took care of Bobby at home until he died. Bobby was never able to walk or talk but he could make sounds to indicate that he recognized family members when they entered his room. 4th son John Vernon (Johnny) Walker, born 31 Dec 1928. Married Dolores Jeanette Engler. They have 4 children. Norma knew Johnny better than the other boys. In fact Johnny took Norma to her Jr./Sr. prom in Beaumont. Norma was engaged to Lonnie at the time. Lonnie was station in Illinois with the U.S.Air Force at the time. Johnny & Norma still keep in touch. When Aunt Irene & Uncle Press were raising their family they lived in Beaumont in what was then a very prestigious neighborhood called South Park. The city park which took up about a whole city block fronted their home. The swimming pool for the park was right across the street from their house. We could watch the swimmers and divers from their windows. In fact with the windows open we could even smell the chrorine from the pool. Aunt Irene died as a result of having a stroke. She Uncle Press and their son Bobby are buried in the Dorman Cemetery where Grandpa & Grandma Davis are buried in Orange county, Texas." |
