    In the Name of God Amen the Xxvii day of June the yeare of our Lord god One thousand and six hundred I humphry Dewell of Readinge the county of Berk Inholder beinge in bodily heath and of good mid _. Ffirst and principally I comend my soule in the handes of Almighytye god_ I comytt to the earth from whemeit came to be buryed in the parishe church of Saint Marye in Readinge next to the body of my late lovinge wife there buried as the same convenyently maybe if I shall depart this liyfe at Readinge es to be buryed in the parish church of Whitewall in the said county of Berk w[here] the bodies of my late deceased father and mother is convenyently it maybe is a soe be that I shall depart this lyfe at Bynfeild in the county of Berk Item I give .. to my daughter Elizabeth ffylpe the wyfe of John ffylpe the some of twenty poundes of lawfull english money, _ to amongest her three children now livinge _ to the daughters of my late sister margaret warde _. To my sister Johan Taylor late wife of John Tayler twetny shillinges _.to my sister Agnes Inlverhow wife of John Inlverhow And to margaret the daugher of my siad sister Inlverhow _ I give unto my brother John Dewell three poundes Item my myinde and will is that my sonne ffrancis Dewell _ for his better mayntenanse shall (receive) my house called the Cardynall Hatt in Readinge Item I give to my son George Dewell tenn shillinges _to my godsone humphy smaylle _ to the poore of St. Mary, St. Lawrence and St. Giles Reading_and the poore in the parish of Whitewall_. I give and bequeath unto my sonne John Dewell whome I make and ordeyne as the sole executor of this my last will and testament.
