Hosea Henson was baptised on 5th September 1802 at Barnack in Northamptonshire, son of William and Catherine Henson.

When he was about 30 he married a Sophia Newborn, who was fifteen years older than him. They married at Barnack on 9th July 1832. At the time of their marriage she had a ten year old daughter, Ann, but Ann died in 1834, aged 12. Hosea and Sophia do not appear to have had any children together.

Hosea and Sophia appear to have stayed in Barnack after their marriage, appearing together there in the 1841, 1851 and 1861 censuses. Hosea was described as a cottager of fifteen acres, whilst Sophia worked as a dairy woman.

Sophia died in 1870, aged 83.

After her death, Hosea appears to have gone to live in the Stamford Union Workhouse, appearing there in both the 1871 and 1881 censuses. He died there on 24th August 1881, aged 78. He was buried back at Barnack three days later.
