Facts and Events
It is not certain, but the Wray family oral history tells the story of a Hiram Wray, the cousin of Caleb Wray, coming up from Virginia, to Berrien County, Michigan in about 1835 to join him in the sawmill business. The 1840 Berrien County census lists a Hiram Wray and the census of Franklin County, Virginia does not. There is a genealogy report that states the name of a cemetery where Andrew Wray, Hiram's father, is buried. There is no known cemetery by that name in Franklin County, however, there is one in Berrien County by that name and one grave is marked with the initial AW. Thus, perhaps Andrew was living with Hiram at the time of his death.S1 References
