Will of Henry Gay-Abstract Isle of Wight County, Virginia, Will Book 4:156 Written 3 February 1735/6; proved 26 April 1737 [Will does not begin with ‘In the Name of God’ and does not mention burial, debts or wife.] Henry Gay of Isle of Wight County: to my son, Henry Gay, five shillings current money of Virginia; to my son, John Gay, two shillings & six pence current money of Virginia; to my three sons, Thomas Gay, William Gay & Joshua Gay, all my land to be equally divided between them and their heirs & assigns forever excepting I give them all privilege to make use of Timber in the Swamp for their own use forever but not to sell; to son, Joshua Gay, the manor plantation that is the house wherein I live with his equal share of the Land joining to the houses; to my daughter, Ann Lawrence, three shillings & six pence current money of Virginia; the remaining part of my estate to be equally divided between my four children, Thomas, William and Joshua and my daughter Sarah Babb. I appoint my son, Thomas, my executor. Witnesses: James Denson, Joseph Denson.
