Facts and Events
When John Jackson's Forge in Morris County went bankrupt, Hartshorne bought the forge at the Sheriff's Sale in 1753. When this story is told in "Dover Dates" it is said that Hartshorne was a wealthy Quaker from Monmouth County, NJ. 1805 Randolph Township [Morris County] was formed from Mendham, and named in honor of Hartshorne Fitz Randolph, who made his last will March 31, 1806. It is known that Hartshorne was a brother of Mary Fitz Randolph Thorne who married James Jackson, son of James Jackson and Rebecca Hallett. Also that he was a witness to the will of Gen. Joseph Jackson, also a son of James Jackson and Rebecca Hallett. So there were close family connections there. References
