Harry Thompson
CHAMPION HEIGHTS -- Funeral services for Harry (Babe) Thompson, who died Friday at 11 a.m. at his home on Lauder Ave., will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Gillen Funeral Home in Warren. Rev. Edwin P. Eberly will be in charge and burial will be in Champion Cemetery.
Mr. Thompson was born Jan. 2, 1892, in Bear RunA, Pa., to Eugene and Minnie (Frantz) Thompson. He resided in Rochester, N.Y., before coming here 32 years ago.
He will be remembered as a boxer in his younger days, who won many bouts in this locality. He had been employed as a foreman at the Ohio Public Service Co.
Surviving are his wife, the former Lela Wright; a son, Harry, Jr.; four daughters, Mrs. Harlan Warren of Champion Heights, and Mildred Mae, Martha and Lela at home; two grandchildren; his mother, who resides in Warren; two brothers, Burr of Warren and Roy of Champion; two sisters, Mrs. Clarence Lucker of Warren and Mrs. Carl Venson of New York; five half brothers, Melvin, Ashley, Cecil, Wynn and Ross Thompson of Ridgeway<sic>, Pa,; and one half sister, Mrs. Russ Rickard of Ridgeway<sic>, Pa.
The body will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wright of 720 Bonnie Brae SE, until Sunday noon. Friends may call at any time.
A Bear Run is the creek upon which Frank Lloyd Wright built "Fallingwater", and likely the location of a lumber camp where Harry's parents were employed and resided.
