He was counted twice on the 1870 census, once on July 6, 1870, page 144 and again on July 14, 1870, page 161. Page 144 lists his occupation as Butcher and page 161 says he is a clerk in store. Page 144 gives no middle initial for Ellen, page 161 has Ellen L. Page 144 has child's name as Marion (m)and page 161 has Elma (f) which aren't even close! Also in the household is David Baxter, age 86 (83) born New York on page 144 and 83 born Conneticut on page 161. On page 161 he is family #360. On this page family #366 are his sister Tamerson and her husband George W Merrill, family #365 his mother and step-father.

The Berrien County Directory of 1871 lists him as a Buthcher living on Fourth St. Also on Fourth St is William H Glover, Cooper. Harrison's brother Jay is listed as a Cooper living on West St. Also listed is James Glover, Carpenter on Porage St
