    Saskatoon Star-Phoenix - March 4, 2003:
SUMMACH Harold William Summach, 88, of Saskatoon passed away on March 2, after a brief illness. His devoted wife Flo and many of his loved ones, including his cherished great-granddaughters, felt blessed to share the final peaceful hours of his life. Born in 1914 in the Tregarva, SK area, he was the third oldest in a family of six brothers and two sisters. Left to mourn are his wife, <names of living individuals have been removed>. He is also survived by his brothers Cecil and Mervin (Living); sisters-in-law, <names of living individuals have been removed> Harold was predeceased by his parents, Mary and William; brothers Lester, Bob, and Ted Summach; sisters Elaine Green and Marietta Campbell; sisters-in-law Mary Summach, Esther Summach, Elaine Summach and Theresa Summach; brothers-in-law Bill Green, Robert Lipsett, Stan Arnold, and Gary Miller; nephews Ken and Howard Green and Trent Summach; and nieces Lila Green, Joyce Ramsay, and Sheridene Summach. After operating the family farm in the Asquith area for a number of years, Harold joined Lipsett Footwear in Saskatoon, marrying Flo in 1968. Together they operated the family business for over thirty years, joined for the last twenty-two years by their son-in-law, Bob. A successful farmer and businessman, a devout and generous Christian, Harold was deeply devoted to his entire family. Throughout his life he was a faithful and active supporter of the Baptist Church. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist in Saskatoon where he will be remembered by the congregation. During his years of involvement with the store and the church, he made many friends and acquaintances. He will be missed. The family would like to thank the Royal University Hospital staff for their devoted care. The warm support of Dr. Sheila Harding was especially appreciated. A public visitation for family and friends will take place at the Saskatoon Funeral Home, 338 4th Avenue North, on Wednesday, March 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. A service of remembrance will be held at Emmanual Baptist Church, on Thursday, March 6, 2003 at 2:00 p.m., led by Pastor Cal Malena. Memorial donations in Harold's memory may be made to Emmanual Baptist Church, 1636 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon, S7H 5H7. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Saskatoon Funeral Home. When I must leave you, Please do not grieve and shed wild tears, And hug your sorrow through the years, But start out bravely; making it a rule, And for my sake, and in my name, Live on, doing all things the same. Feed not your loneliness, on empty days, But fill each waking hour in useful ways. Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer, And I in turn will comfort you and hold you near; And never, never be afraid to die; For I am waiting for you, in the sky.
