-Serving in 29th Engineers stationed in Centralia, when met Elizabeth Picknell at a dance at the skating rink in Nov. 1936. He had already signed up for a two year tour of duty in the Phillippine Islands which occurred from Feb. 1937 - 1939.
-Served in the motor pool in Manila, driving General MacArthur and General Eisenhower.
