April 1, 1945 Joplin Globe Mr. and Mrs. Orville Knight, 519 East Thirteenth street, were surprised Monday night at their home when a group of friends assembled there for a dinner in honor of their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. the guests had prepared a bountiful dinner. The evening was spent in games and visiting. Others present were Mrs. Mildred Green, Miss Lula Marie Knight, Captain and Mrs. Jack Hopkins and daughter, sonja, Mr. and Mrs. Claud Adair, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Heisten, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Christman, Alvena Christman and George Christman.

  Mr. and Mrs. Harold Christman, 1044 James street, entertained at 1 o'clock diner Sunday, September honoring their son, George, and Miss Marjorie Owen.  The birthday of Miss Owen and George Christman was Sunday.  Mrs. Christman was assited by her daughter, Alverna.  Others present were Robert Duvall, Shaffer Gross, Priscilla Gross and Miss Jean Owen, the latter of Springfield and a sister of Miss Marjorie Owen, education director at the First Methodist church.  During the afternoon the group made final arrangements for the young people's meeting that night at the First Methodist church.

October 27, 1950, Friday, Joplin Globe Demo Women To Hold Luncheon at Carthage Carthage, Mo., Oct. 26. -- The Women's Democratic Club will be hostess at a luncheon at democratic headquarters, 331 South Maple street, Saturday for all committeemen and committeewomen of the Eastern district of Joasper county.

  Following the luncheon, a school of instructions on election procedure to be used in all voting precincts will be held.
  Mrs. Harold christman, Eastern district secretary, has announce that the polling of all precincts is virtually completed and the poll books are now being compiled.
