Since Hester (Prentice) Gallup had an aunt Hannah Nichols, and we have found no record to indicate that her father John Prentice had a sister Hannah who married a Nichols, it seems likely that Hannah was her maternal aunt, from which it would follow that her own mother was born Hester Nichols."^[2]
