BURLINGTON — Mr. Graham Cecil Johnson, 81, of 209 Trail One, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at Rehabilitation and Health Care Center of Alamance in Graham after an illness of eight years, one month critical. A native of Wake County, he was the husband of Mrs.. Donnie Shoffner Johnson, who survives, and the son of Mr. Robert Hupton Johnson and Mrs.. Ella Frances Prince Johnson, both deceased. He was retired from the Communication Workers of America. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church, where he taught pre-school for 13 years. He was a former deacon, usher and member of the deacon nominating committee and assistant to the church treasurer.

Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Mrs.. Linda Johnson Newsom of Winston-Salem; a son, Mr. Daniel Cecil Johnson of Raleigh; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ms. Ethel Johnson and Ms. Irma Johnson Strauss; and four brothers, Mr. Melzar Johnson, Mr. Hurley Johnson, Mr. Robert Johnson and Mr. Howard Johnson. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grove Park Baptist Church by Dr. Roy P. Taylor, seniors pastor and pastor emeritus of Grove Park Baptist Church, and Dr. Eugene Hunsinger, pastor. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park, Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina.
