Biography of Grace Zeralda Zent

Grace Zeralda Zent was born on 28 April, 1899 in Dunsmuir, Siskiyou County, California, the daughter of Isaac Chase Zent and Jessie Edith Cole.

Grace married Roy Scott Veregge, son of Albert James Veregge and Mary Elizabeth Ambrose, on 6 July, 1920 in Stockton, Sacramento County, California.

Roy and Grace had two children, June Alberta, born 10 March, 1921 and Elwood C. "Bud" Veregge, born 31 July 1922, both were born in Stockton, California.

Grace worked during World War I at Camp Stoneman in Pittsburg, California as a "Comptometer Operator", which was similar to an early calculator, probably used to process the payroll. She wanted to help the war effort with her work with the military.

Roy and Grace Veregge lived for over 60 years at their homes in Pittsburg and Concord, California and later moved to their home on the Russian River in Monte Rio, California, which was located near Sebastopool. Roy owned two parcels of property in Monte Rio which later were given to Roy's nephew, Rik Olson. Roy and Grace's home was a frequent "summer vacation visiting spot" for their grandchildren, when the Russian River was at its low-point, with some good swimming holes for all to enjoy.

Grace Veregge passed away on 27 June, 1993 in Gardnerville, Douglas County, Nevada, near the home of her son, Bud, who cared for her in the last several years of her life.
