                            Sister Agnes Paula Shambo SSJ, 93; teacher

Rochester - Sister of St. Joseph Agnes Paula Shambo,93, died at the St. Joseph Convent Infirmary, Monday, October 1, 2001.

    She entered the congregation from St. Aloysius Parish, Auburn, in 1928. For

62 years beginning in 1930, Sister Agnes Paula taught in diocesan schools including St. Michael, Penn Yan; St. Augustine, Rochester; St. Mary, Auburn; St. Stephen, Geneva; St. Patrick, Seneca Falls; and St. Mary, Waterloo.

    She moved to the infirmary in 1992.
    "Sister Agnes Paula was an inspiration to all who had the good fortune to

know her", a congregational spokeswoman said. "We remember her a strong religious woman. Her love of God permeated her being and overflowed in the life she so happily led".

    Survivors include nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and

her sisters in the Congregation of St. Joseph.

    Father Bruce Ammering served as principal celebrant, assisted by Msgr.

Emmett Murphy, at her funeral liturgy Oct. 5 at the motherhouse chape

    Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday,

at the Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse, 4095 East Ave., Rochester. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, at the Motherhouse Chapel. Burial will be at 9 a.m. Friday in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

    Contributions in Sister's memory may be made to St. Joseph Convent

Infirmary. Arrangements are by DiPonzio Funeral Home of Rochester.
