  3. Her Young Life Ended
Died Dec 4th at her home on North First Street of consumption. Mrs. Gertrude Nye-Taylor, wife of S.A. Taylor. Mrs. Taylor was born in Adel July 13, 1870 being therefore 22 years of age at the time of her death. She had been for some years a member of the Presbyterian Church in Adel and a teacher in the Sabbath School. Since her stay with me in Perry her health has been such that she could but seldome come to the house of God, but when well was said of her "Gertie is always in her place." Before her marriage 1 March 1902, Mrs. Taylor contracted a cold from which she never recovered. Although this early breakup of the home is so very sad for the husband who is left, and he and the mother and sisters must endure the feelings of sorrow and longing yet. "We do not sorrow as those who have no hope" for the loved one who has left us was ready for a better home, and often spoke of the time when her earth life would end. The sorrowing friends have the tender sympathy of all in this hour of suffering and lonliness.
The funeral services were conducted on Monday afternoon by Rev. Mr. Sharpley who was supplying the Presbyterian pulpit and was attended by many sympathizing friends.
