George Yonda was born April 24, 1892, and died Thursday evening, June 2, 1938, at the age of 46 years, 1 month and 9 days. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Yonda, Lamont, Iowa. On Jan. 12, 1920, he was married to Mabel Zemanek who passed away in 1920. On Feb. 7, 1928, he married Anna Moses at Monona, Iowa, after which they moved to a farm southeast of Lamont until the time of his death. He was the father of three children, one daughter preceding him in death in infancy. Surviving are his widow and two daughters, Margaret age 8 and Florence 7 years of age. Also his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Yonda, Lamont, two sisters, Mrs. Thomas Newton, Lamont, and Mrs. Arthur Moses, Winthrop, and one brother Frank Yonda, Lamont. He was a faithful member of the Catholic church and a World War veteran. A loving husband and father and a true friend. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock in St. Mary's church, with Rev. Joseph Wiehl, pastor, officiating. The American Legion conducted the funeral with the following members as pallbearers: John Lucy, Almore Orel, Lowell Carr, Alfred Orel, Joe Wintakge and Thomas Jackman. Burial was made in St. Albert's cemetery. Newton, Iowa City; Mr. and Mrs. John Burrach and Mr. Geo. Franck, Strawberry Point; Mrs. J.F. Darregh, Moline, Ill.; Mrs. Lillian Nosek and son, Independence; Mr. and Mrs. Art Ahrens, Manchester; Mr. Ray Ahrens and daughter, Thorpe; Mr. and Mrs. John Sindelar, Cicero, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Keegan, Mr. and Mrs. W.B.
