George W. Thomas, carpenter, Xenia, was born in Berkeley County, Virginia, in the year 1821, and is a son of Archibald and Catharine Thomas. His father was a native of Wales, and his mother of Germany. They immigrated to America about the year 1800, with a family of thirteen children. George W. was married, September 5, 1844, to Miss Elizabeth Gaskill, of New York. During the war he was one of the "squirrel hunters," who drove Morgan from Ohio soil in 1864. Received his education in this county, and is now extensively engaged in carpentering. Being an active, jovial man, and having traveled for some thirty years, has many friends and acquaintances. |
