Howard Courant - October 9, 1930 George Alden, son of Mr.and Mrs. Fred Shepherd, born at Hartford, Kansas, December 10, 1925, passed away at thier home southeast of Howard, Friday morning, October 3, 1930 at 6:35, at the age of four years, nine months, and 24 days. When George was but a babe he was enrolled in the cradle roll of the Elmandaro Presbyterian Sunday School and endeared himself to his Sunday school teachers. Little George leaves to mourn his early departure his little sister and playmate, Lucile, his father and mother; Grandfather and grandmother Shepherd, Grandfather and grandmother Andrews, besides a host of other relatives and friends. "A little one from us is gone; a voice we loved is still; a place is vacant in our home, that never can be filled." Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the home by rev. W. C. Chappell, pastor of the Howard Methodist Church, with interment in Grace Lawn cemetery at Howard.
