The identification of George as the son of John & Janet (Muirhead) RUNCIMAN is from: - his death index on FamilySearch saying that his father was a John - the Annapolis Heritage Society's article on this Runciman family stating he came from Haddington, Scotland, along with his brother James - brother James' dates fitting with the James born to the above John and Janet - and James naming one of his daughters Janet Muirhead Runciman. Subsequently (May 2012) corroborated from daughter Isabella's 1891 census entry showing a "cousin" visiting from New Brunswick, Jessie, daughter of William & Jessie (MacAULAY) RUNCIMAN, William being George's nephew The family leads back from George to the earliest Haddington link that looks possible from the OPRs, a George married to Agnes Vallance, who married in 1714
