He seems to have lived in Tyne Street all his married life, a few houses away from his brother in law Thomas Dixon Hadaway who had a butchers shop where George may have worked.

In the 1851 census is wife is visiting her widowed relative Jane Robson, probably a sister, at Newton Farm House, Newton by the Sea. After Georges death his wife was at 104 Stephenson Street, Tynemouth for the census listed as a ship owner and with her is Jane Robson a former farmer now from Yorkshire and George Hadaway a nephew, the 16 year old son of Thomas Dixon Hadaway. (Archive reference RG09 Piece number 3841 Folio number 43 Page number 1) It appears Hannah died about November 1868 in Tynemouth age 56 (Volume 10B Page 103), they had no children.
