n.d. “George Ormsby lived on the north 50 acres and soon after bought an additional 50 acres adjoining to the north. George Ormsby’s log house and barn were in the middle of the big field, south of the present barn. Two smaller frame houses were built alongside to the south of the main house. Emma and Dick Metcalfe lived in one while he taught at Leigh’s Corners. The veteran’s wife lived in the other house” (p. 286)

1860 “Ormsby operated a saw mill on a creek, Lot 14, Conc 12., Oro, in the early 1860s. The lumber was cut as this mill to build the Temperance Hall in 1864. This mill was bought by George Brown in 1866.”
