Notes by Ralph C. Jones regarding the Moore Family Cemetery:

In talking with Walt [Walter Wagner Moore, 1891-1968] he told me that his father [John Neton Moore, 1860-1900/1910] bought the place in Colleen, Va. for his father and that his Uncle George [George Ella Moore, 1856-1930] lived there with him. He also said that when he placed the marker in the Moore family grave yard that they had transposed Uncle George's date of death from 1930 to 1903.

The Colleen community is located in the junction of of US Route 29 and Va. Road 655. There are 4 churches within a 2 mile radius of this community. Moore family cemetery is on the east side of U.S. Route 29 on the crown of the hill overlooking Va. Route 655. The cemetery is walled with a single tombstone in the center of it.

From my memory of a visit to that area some 6 or more years ago the cemetery is located about 100 yards out in the field north of a dirt road that is not on this map leading from U.S. Route 29 over the top of the hill and down to Road 655 [Arlington Road]. Also Walt told me that he had the cemetery walled and then poured a concrete slab inside the wall prior to putting up the tombstone in the center of it. Also every 4 or 5 years he had paid men hired by Nonie to cut the brush away from the wall. I do not believe that this has been done since Walt died.

[This cemetery is likely near Woodland Church Cemetery, Colleen, Nelson County, Virginia. There is a another unrelated Moore family cemetery located a couple of miles west (GPS Coordinates: Latitude: 37.71039, Longitude: -78.99753)]
