George, eighth and youngest child of Simon and Elizabeth (Thompson) Libby was born in Scarborough February 4, 1791 and died November 2, 1840. He succeeded to the ancestral homestead, and he and his brother tore down the house which had been his grandfather's and built on the opposite side of the road, the one now standing. He married October 3, 1824, Lydia Libby who was born January 28, 1805, and died September 5, 1839. She was the daughter of Rufus and Charlotte (Plummer) Libby.
