Culpeper Co Court, 18 May, 1840. By the affidavit of George Scott Kennady and on motion of Abigail Shields, Martha and Betty Kennady it was ordered to be certified that William Kennady was an officer in the Rev. War. (The deposition is the same as Goodall's) and that he died in the county of Augusta about the year 1817, itestate, leaving several children who were his only heirs at law: namely, Robert, James, David, George, Polly, Abigail, Martha, Betsey and Margaret Kennady. That Robert, James and David moved to the West: Robert has since died leaving children; Polly Kennady married William Black, Jr. and resides in Kentucky; Abigail married a Mr. Shields of Augusta Co,. VA and is now a widow. Margaret married William Black, Sr., and died intestate and without children, about 1823. Teste, F. Mauzy, Clerk of the Court..

George S. Kennady made an affidavit which agrees with both of the foregoing. He stated that Abigail (Kennedy) Black went to live in Bourbon Co., Ken.; That Abigail (Kennedy) Shields, a widow in this neighborhood (evidently Augusta Co.) where the family has always resided with the exception of those who went west..

A copy of the affidavit of George Kennady was filed in court and is the same on which is found the certificate of the said court certifying the heirs of William Kennady. Teste, F. Mauzy, Clerk..
