Notes for GEORGE HENDERSON, JR: GEORGE HENDERSON, JR. George and Mary, hoping to better provide fortheir family, sold their farm in Washington County, PA in 1834 and movedto Bristol Twp, Morgan County, OH. They made the journey in a farmwagon. They bought a farm of about 220 acres in Ohio. Ironically, thefarm sold in PA was underlaid with the best bituminous coal ever found.Natural gas and oil was also found on the farm. George Henderson was a Presbyterian and was one of the founders ofthe Presbyterian Church in Bristol Twp, Morgan Co, OH, located near hishome. One of the first tasks of the congregation was to erect a 25 by 30foot church. He served as ruling elder until his death and was aTownship Trustee for several terms. George died, January 24, 1855 of astroke and is buried in Bristol Church Cemetery , the church he founded.Mary died November 30, 1875 and is also buried in Bristol Church Cemetery.
