The Estate of Ensign George Clark(e)

"The will of George Clarke of Milford, dated Apr. 24, 1734, proved Aug. 19, 1734, mentions his deceased daughter Elizabeth Talcott; daughter Abigail Curtis wife of Ebenezer Curtis ("only excepted from an equal part and in lew thereof to have all the chettells left at my death which her mother brought to me, as may appear by my book of accounts"); son George Clark; refers to "my honored father George Clarke, Late of Milford, deceased"; daughter Sarah Beard decd; daughter Deborah Judson; daughter Jane Clark dec'd Heirs; heirs of daughter Jerusha Baldwin dec'd; daughter Silence Buckingham; son George Clark and Grandson George Clark; children of daughter Martha Booth which she had by her first husband; grandson Nathan Clark, the son of my son Nathan Clark dec'd; grandchildren, of my daughter Mrs. Abigail Talcott, dec'd, viz. John Talcott, Joseph Talcott and Nathan Talcott; grandchildren, children of son Nathan Clark dec'd viz. Nathll Clark, Elizabeth Clark and Martha Clark. There are two errors in the recorded copy of the will. There was no such person as a daughter Elizabeth Talcott, and she is correctly called Abigail Talcott elsewhere in the will. Nathan Clark left no son Nathaniel, and he is correctly called Nathan elsewhere in the will and also in his own father's will. The probate record recites that Joshua Judson and Deborah his wife, and James Booth and Martha his wife, all of Stratford, legatees of the will, were notified to appear. [N. H. P. 6:143-146.]

Deeds of the Clark heirs conveying their interest in the Gold farm in Fairfield are noted in Families of Old Fairfield [1:147-8]. The most important of these is a conveyance Feb. 22, 1724/5, from Samuel Beard and Sarah his wife, Thomas Baldwin and Jerusha his wife, Samuel Peck and Martha his wife, Samuel Buckingham and Silence his wife, and Nathan Clark, all of Milford, and Joshua Judson and Deborah his wife, and John Clark and Jane his wife, all of Stratford, to their brother, George Clark of Milford, right from their mother Deborah Clark."[1]
