Notes from Bob Ingle, RootsWeb, WorldConnect: George Albion Clapp was killed as a fireman in the "Wreck of Old 97" on 27 Sept 1903. He was at the time engaged to Mary Stanley - a school teacher in Greensboro, NC. She later became principal of White Oak School. Never married.

Other names were John Madison Hodge, 21 from Raleigh, Student Fireman assisting Albion. Conductor John Thomas Blair 37 of Spencer, and Flagman James Robert Moody of Raleigh.
