    Garland A. Howell, a former resident of Johnston County, died Sunday in Alexandria, Va.  He was 45 years of age.
    The body was scheduled to be returned to Underwood Funeral Home in Smithfild for a funeral service at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at Parrish memorial Church near Pine Level with the Rev. Willie Turner and the Rev. Billy Godwin officiating and interment following in the church cemetery.
    Surviving are his wife, the former Lena Parrish; one son, Joe Howell of Alexandria, Va.; two daughters, Miss Dianne Howell and Mrs. Wilma Wikan, both of Alexandria, Va.;  three brothers, Haywood Howell of Alexandria, Val, Thadis Howell of Springfield, Va., and Roland Howell, of Herndon, Va.; five sisters, Mrs. Harry Garris of Burlington, Mrs. Earl Edwards of Goldsboro, Mrs. Lois Willoughby of Patchoqueti, N.Y., Mrs Eddie Wright of Eaton Rapids, Mich., and Mrs Mike Liverata of Danvero, Pa.
