He graduated from Tri-State University in Angola, IN with a BS in Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering in 1936. He worked as a mechanical engineer from Babcock and Wilcox Co. in Barberton, OH from 1936 to 1946. Then he moved back to Buffalo and worked for the Frank Masse Construction Co until 1956. In 1957, he moved to Winter Haven where he owned a trailer park until 1972.
