Obituary Hamilton Advocate-Hamiltonian, Hamilton, Missouri April 23, 1959 Fred Stone, 73, Dies Sunday Night at Cowgill Fred Stone, 73-year-old retired farmer, died at his home in Cowgill Sunday night at 6:00 following a heart attack. He had been a heart patient several months and was a son of the late Mrms. Legrand Stone of Hamilton. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Marcella Stone, of the home; two sons, Donald and Roy of Co wgill; five sisters, Mrs. Ella Robb, Hamilton; Miss Moreau Stone, Atchison, Kans.; Mrs. Leona Goodnow, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Linnie Houghton and Mrs. John Hall of Kingston; and four brothers, Ed of Hamilton, George of Chilhowee, Craig of Independence, and Lee Stone of Wray, Colorado. The funeral service was held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Church of Christ in Cowgill. Interment was made in the Evergreen cemetery at Braymer. Stone, son of Legrand and Julia Stone was born near Woodlawn, Va., Feb. 1885, and died at his home near Cowgill April 19, 1959, at the age of 74 years, 2 months and 4 days. His early life was spent in Virginia. He moved to Missouri with his parents in 1904. He became a member of the Church of Christ at the age of 14. Dec. 20, 1911, he was united in marriage to Marcella Michael. To this union were born t wo sons, Donald and Roy and one daughter, Rosmond, who preceded him in death in 1936. He is survived by his wife; the two sons; seven grandchildren; five sisters and four brothers; Mrs. Florence Hall, Kingston; Mrs. Leona Goodnow, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Linnie Houghton, Kingston; Mrs. Ella Robb, Hamilton; Miss Moreau Stone, Atchison, Kans.; Lee Stone, Wray, Colo.; Craig Stone, Independence; George Stone, Leeton and Edd Stone of Hamilton, also a number of nieces and nephews. Services in memory of Mr. Stone were held at the Church of Christ in Cowgill Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Kenneth VanDusen of Kansas City officiating. The musical portion of the service was rendered by a mixed quartette from the Kansas Cit y area, Wilford Landes, Ruby Freeman, JoAnn Harmon, Rev. Kenneth VanDusen. They sang "Have Thine Own Way", "Precious Lord" and "Beyond the Sunset." References
