Early Migration to Germanna Colony

Frederick Baumgartner was an early immigrant from Germany. He arrived in Philadelphia on the "Johnson" in 1732 and settled in the Germanna Colony in Culpeper County, Virginia.

  • Page 94. [Will of Frederick Bumgardner], dated 8 Sept. 1745.
The 400 acres of land which is had in possession when I lived shall be equally divided among my four sons Adam, George, Frederick and Joel so that each of them shall have 100 acres.
My daughter Dorothy shall have a share of the 400 acres for which my son shall pay to her the money according to the land shall be judged to be worth.
