Born circa 1560; baptised at Sudbury. Pictured in black dress and ruff, but little beard; he holds a bag of money, and there is more on the table before him, together with an inkstand and a book of accounts, an entry of which is crossed through.

Family

He married firstly Brigit, daughter of Edward DUKE of Brampton, Suffolk; and secondly Grace (baptised 1578), daughter of Arthur PENNING of Ipswich; he had no children however. He lived at Darsham in 1593, when he sold the manor to Martin ARCHDALE. He was a merchant in London in 1598; may have been the Francis HONYNG who was deputy-porter for the Council of the Marches of Wales in 1605; and was Receiver of the Crown rents in the counties of Suffolk and Cambridgeshire in 1609. He was buried at Eye on 16th March (or May) 1618.
