From the Monona (IA) Leader Frank Holly Services Funeral services for Frank Holly, 87, was held at the Monona Methodist Church April 13th at 1:30, Rev. Paul Clements officiating. Mr. Holly died April 10 at the Postville Hospital after a two weeks illness. Frank, the eldest of fourteen children of John and Mary (nee Lestina) Holly, was born in Giard Township on January 14, 1877. After being educated in the rural schools, he spent his early manhood as a farm laborer. On March 24, 1902, he was united in marriage to Emma Scheffert. They resided in Monona, where he worked as a carpenter until his retirement. Preceding him in death were his wife, Emma, a son, Walter, three grandchildren, three brothers and five sisters. The surviving relatives are one daughter, Genevieve, a son Lester, two grandchildren, Bonnie and Gary Holly, one sister, Mrs. William (Rose) Schroeder, four brothers, Albert, George, Vencil and Elmer. Music at the services was provided by Mrs. Ben Frese, soloist, and Mrs. Ivon Schultz as organist. Pallbearers were Elba Nagle, Myron Schmidt, Leo Havlicek, Joe Mista, Emmett Gunderson and LeRoy Hoth. Those attending the services from out of town were Mr. & Mrs. Joe Fibikar, Dows, Iowa; Mr. & Mrs. John Johnson and Mr. & Mrs. Nels Pearson of Chicago, Ill.; Mr. & Mrs. Walter Koehn, McGregor; Mr. & Mrs. John Blietz, Waterloo; Mr. & Mrs. James Riley, Prairie du Chien; Mr. & Mrs. Vencil Holly, Postville; Gary Holly, Ames; Bonnie Holly, Cedar Rapids; Mr. Cecil Snively, West Union; Helmuth Meyer, Postville; Mrs. Gilbert Kurth and Mr. & Mrs. Yvo Scheffert of Luana.
