Francis Newborn was baptised in 1713 at Barnack in Northamptonshire, the fifth of six children of Edward Newborn and his wife Ann Algate, although the eldest three children had died young, such that Francis was effectively the middle child of three.

Francis appears to have married a Jane, with whom he had two children at Barnack in 1749 and 1752. They do not appear to have married in Barnack, and could have had other children elsewhere. Jane died in 1767. Francis outlived her by nearly 23 years, and died in 1790, aged 76.
