- Francis Hopkins was a witness to a lease by his first cousin, Gilbert Thacker of Repton, esq., within the lands of Repton, Derbyshire, on 12 March 1552/3. As such a witness he must be over 14, and thus born 1538 or earlier.
- A lease for 20 years was made by Francis Hopkins of Southwood (near Ticknall, but at that time within the parish of Repton, as part of the old Priory lands)to Hugh Jackson of Southwood of the house that Francis' late father, John had had by lease from John's nephew, Gilbert Thacker of Repton, esq., on 28 Sept 1565, indicating John had died, and Francis now had the rights related to the house.
- An indenture between Gilbert Thacker of Repton, esq., and Robert Cooke of Ticknall, yeoman, dated 3 Sept 1588 mentions that Francis Hopkins had the tenure or occupation of a house in Southwood (near Ticknall, but at that time within the parish of Repton, as part of the old Priory lands).
