2 Capt. Francis (Hooke, Esq., Saco, Kittery, appar. near relation of [Humphrey Hooke, Esq.] and had with him at times [William Hooke] and his s. Wm. He m. in Boston, 20 Sept. 1660, Mary (Maverick, dau. of Saml.), wid. of John Palsgrave; was in Boston in June, 1661, at Saco same yr., and bot 30 a. at Winter Harbor in Nov. 1662. A Gorges adherent, he was Com. t. e. s. c. 1663-4, (indicted by Mass. in 1663 for acting under Gorges' authority), Clerk of the Writs 1664, J. P. 1665, Treas. for eastern div. of the Prov. 1666; signed protest to the King 7 July 1668. He bot at Kit. Point in 1674, but was Selectm. there 1673, also 1676-7; Com. t. e. s. c. 1673 and later; Customs officer, Associate, County Treas., Rep., J. P., Councilor under Danforth 1681, Dep. Pres. 1691, Chief Judge 1692-4, Councilor under Wm. and Mary 1693. Capt. many yrs., Major 1694, and the mo. before he d. wrote three letters to Lt. Gov. Stoughton about Ind. affairs and his intended trip to York and Wells. … No ch. Will 9 (died 10) Jan. 1694-5 names w. and 'my boy Samuel.' Wid. Mary, ± 60 in 1695, was liv. 14 Nov., inv. 16 Dec. 1706."
