Revolutionary War Hero


This family came to the New River Settlement before the Revolution. He had had a plantation on Indian Creek, Later he moved to Southen Illinois and died at the age of 103.

A brother, Thomas Farley, Sr., built the Farley's fort that was located in Crump's Bottom.

p. 46 in the Hopkins book says that Francis Farley, Sr. deeded 124 acres of land to his son Drewry Farley on December 10. 1795. Thus, it is assumed that Francis Sr. moved to Shawnee Town, Illinois at this time.
