  2. References to "Fornham, Co. Essex, England" by Moriarty have been interpreted here as references to Farnham. Moriarty's Bayford Family article consistently uses "Fornham". While there is a Fornham in Suffolk (near Bury St. Edmunds), there is none in Essex. The Farnham in Essex fits the usage since it is adjacent to Bishop's Stortford where the family also had connections, and Francis's "Fornham" lands were in the manor of Earlsbury. The manor of Earlsbury is in Farnham and is also known as the manor or Farnham (or Fernham, as Farnham is also known). This is shown by various reference works, such as
