    Regarding siblings:.

    All of our family is well. Mother has four children out of 10 living with her. That is myself, Nathaniel Raines, Sarah Orgain and Susan James. Brother William married Miss Susan Sledge of Warrenton N. Carolina and is living in La Grange, about 50 miles from us. Sister Rebecca Warren is still living in Va. Brother Edward is in Fort Gaines in Georgia. He married Miss Piannah Shepherd. Sister Lucy is staying with him. John Lewis is living with Stanfield Hardaway in Hamilton Georgia. And my Dear Brother George Washington who died 2 years since was a fine promiseing and intelligent youth. And my little Brother, Wesley Gran is gone to La Grange College to school. There is I believe a 150 male students and one of the first seminaries in the state. Wesley is 12 years old and learns faster than any child I ever saw. He is studying Grammar. Arithmetic. Geography. with the use of globes and Atlas. The examination will take place the first of June. He will come home and return again at the expiration of four months.
