"Fletcher Family Bible

"Florence Gale Fletcher Jackson made out her will one month before her death. In it she bequeaths (subject to conditions) to her grandson, Frederick W. Jackson II $1000 and to her grandson, Robert H. Jackson $1000. These amounts are to be paid to them when they reach 30 years of age.The money is to be held in trust. If either of them die before reaching age 30, the money is to be paid to their estate and paid to their survivors at ages 30. If they predecease her, the income is to be paid to their estate but the principal is held in trust for the benefit of the survivor.

"She bequeaths to her friend, Mrs. Harry Smith of 925 Union Street, Brooklyn, four of her best gowns to be chosen by her with the rest of her clothes to be given to the 'Opportunity Shop' at 46 West 47th Street, Manhattan or if not in existence to any other charitable orgainization deemed appropriate by the execcutor. She makes no provision for her husband at his request. She directs that her executor sell all her jewelry through F.R. Drewes of 3 Maiden Lane, Manhattan or if not in existence any other agency deemed approporiate by her executor. The proceeds are to be added to her estate and put in trust, the income from which is to to be paid to Frank F. Jackson. At his death or if he predecease her, the residue of the trust be divided equally among her grandsons, Frank Malcolm Jackson, William Tuttle Jackson, Frederick W. Jackson, II and Robert H. Jackson or their issue. She appoints Kings County Trust Co. as executor and trustee. The will is dated 16 Jan 1929 and witnessed by Austin H. Cheshire of 83 Jerusalem Avenue, Hempstead and William C. Knapp of 29 Lent Avenue, Hempstead.

"Her death certificate (#6080 ) indicates that she died of lobar pneumonia and pulmonary edema complicated by diabetes mellitus on 28 Feb 1929. She lived at 225 Lincoln Place Brooklyn and was buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Section 61, plot # 12665 on 2 March 1929. Her stone reads: Florence Fletcher Jackson d. 28 Feb 1929.

"On the death certificate her parents are listed as Horace Fletcher and Olive Hunt. The obituary in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle of 1 March 1929 reports that she was the wife of Frederick W. Jackson and daughter of Horace R. Fletcher and that services will be held at the home of her son, Frank F. Jackson at 264 84th St at 2:00 p.m. Internment to be in Greenwood Cemetery. It adds: Batavia, NY papers please copy."
