Bought Meherrin Plantation, Brunswick Co., VA, in 1919 from Mert Thomas. 328 acres, 3 ponds. $20,000. The farm was sold in 1972 through Ornby Realty Company for $185,000 plus cattle. Farm raised tobacco, wheat, corn, hay. Started with 4 horses and 15 cattle. Farm is 1 mile from main highway (Rte 46 in Lawrenceville, VA.) It was a thriving dairy farm when it was sold.

The House 1st story--sand rock (slave times)--4 rooms and bath. 2nd story--wood--4 rooms and bath.

  2. ↑ Obituary that appeared in the "Religious Herald" magazine of the Southern Baptists on March 22, 1928. Copy obtained from The Virginia Baptist Historical Society at the University of Richmond in September, 2010.

    "Mr. Lee Fleshood--Lawrenceville Baptsists, and indeed the entire community, are lamenting the recent death of Mr. Lee Fleshood. He was taken away in the prime of life and at the very heighth [sic] of his usefulness. He is described as a man who was faithful in all his relationships and whose life was one of sunshine and happiness. On Friday following his death a brief memorial service was held at his home. The body was then carried to the old family burying ground near Dolphin, where he rests awaiting the resurrection. Hundreds of friends gathered at his burial. His pastor, Rev. John H. Bunn says of him: 'I have never been privileged to know and love a man who, like him under all circumstances, carried a smile for everybody.' His wife, his mother, eight small children, three brothers and three sisters survive him. To this large family circle, and to the church and pastor, who will miss him so sadly, we send assurance of our deep sympathy."
