[edit] Evelena Bennett: Biographical InformationEvelena Bennett was the daughter of Isaac and Hettie Bennett, and the granddaughter of Adam Bennett, the enslaved overseer at Magnolia Plantation on the Ashley River in St. Andrews Parish, Charleston, South Carolina. Evelena was born about 1908. She appears with her family in the 1910 Federal Census for St. Andrews township in Charleston, South Carolina, listed as 2 years old. Evelena migrated to New York with her parents sometime before 1930, when they were listed on the Federal Census for Manhatten, New York.
