Evadene's obit, Mar 11, 2003

"Evadene Ada McCormick, 88, a lifelong resident of Sount Bend, Ind., passed away at 7pm Saturday, March 8, in her daughter's home.

She was born March 15, 1914 in South Bend, as the daughter of E. Glen and Hazel (Andrews) Wells. During her life she was employed with the Standard Oil Company, Manpower, and retired from the auditing department at Sears, Roebuck & Company following 15 years of service.

Evadene married Richard Earl McCormick on Sept. 20, 1936, in South Bend. They enjoyed 61 years together until his passing on Nov. 21, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harold Wells and Richard Wells; and by a sister, Ester Laure.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Richard) Cowper of South Bend; a son, Michael (Shauna) McCormick of Granger, Ind., four grandchildren, Matthew Cowper and Lisa Cowper, both of South Bend, Lynette Bordner of Granger and Christina McCormick of Mishawaka, Ind.; two great-grandchildren, Axton McCormick and Ashlee Cowper and by her sister, Jeanette Stahl of Nashville, Tenn.

Services for Evadene McCormick will be at 10am Wednesday, March 12, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend. Rev. Martha Carroll, pastor of the Southside Christian Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8pm today in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel.

Mrs. McCormick was a 1932 graduate of James Whitcomb Riley High School and attended the South Bend College of Commerce. She was a lifelong member of Southside Christian Church of South Bend.
