  2. Smith, Peter Charles. Peter C. Smith - Home Page.

According to Peter Smith, Rueben and Tillie were killed in a car accident. They pulled to the side of the road during a snowstorm and were hit. However, their obituaries confirm they died several years apart. Since Tillie died in January, I assume she was the victim of the accident.
