His great-great grandson Pierre DOUCET gave a statement to the Mayor of Sauzon, Belle-Isle-en-Mer on 9 Mar 1767, and stated that Prudent ROBICHAULT [his great-grandfather] was the son of Charles (from France with his wife) and who settled at Port Royal and died there. !CENSUS: 1671, Port Royal, Acadia, name spelled Estienne ROBICHAUT. In a curious entry, he told the Franciscan census-taker Laurent MOLIN that he "did not want to see him. He left the house and told his wife to tell me that he did not at all wish to give the count of his animals and lands." [Did he fear a tax, or was he just a difficult man? Was he a Protestant? Two other individual were also not forthcoming.] Etienne was listed as Laborer (Farmer). He did have a wife, and there should have been three young children. Karen Theriot Reader
