Occupation[2] From 1935 to 1969 Ernest farmed at Souris in the Lily District until 1935, then (he) moved to Winnipeg where he took what jobs were available. In 1941, able to hold work with the CPR he moved the family back to Souris. In 1952, he left the CPR and started work for Manitoba Power Commission; first on pole gangs, then as a timekeeper, and then to the office at 10th St in Brandon. MPC became Manitoba Hydro and Ern moved to Winnipeg head office as chief clerk in the Apparatis (sic) Maintenance Dept from which he retired.

  4. Obituary -- Moffat, Ernest Frederick
    1980.

    Suddenly on Jan. 27, 1980 in San Diego, California. Ernest Frederic, beloved husband of Audrey Moffat of Ste 411-2900 Pembina Highway.

    Mr Moffat was born in Winnipeg, March 3, 1904 and finished his schooling in Souris, Manitoba. From school he worked the family farm. In 1923 he joined the C.P.R. as a brakeman, then became a conductor. In 1950 he joined Manitoba Hydro from which he retired in 1969.

    He was predeceased by his first wife Olive, brothers Harry and Wilf and sister Jean.

    Surviving besides his wife are sons: <living> Bryan E Moffat of Gretna and <living.> Daughters: Mrs Robert Hill [Tannia Ora ] of Winnipeg, and <living>, Brother Lloyd Moffat of Winnipeg, 14 Grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
    A memorial service will be held in Trinity United Church, Saturday, February 8 at 12: 00 pm. The Rev Dr A Grant Smith officiating. The church is located in Fort Richmond, Fort Garry.

    The Thomas Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
