From the December 11, 1938, edition of the Dubuque (IA) Telegraph Herald Mrs. Frank Samek Postville, Ia. -- Special: Funeral services for Mrs. Frank Samek were held Saturday morning at St. Bridget's Church with the Rev. P. Hogan, pastor, in charge. Burial was in the Bohemian Cemetery east of Monona. The pallbearers were Wm. Kozelka, Elmer Hoth, C.C. Sanders, Herman Schuette, H.V. Steele and Earl Abernathy. As Emma Agnes Lestina, Mrs. Samek was born March 3, 1883, at Monona. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Raymond of Waterloo and Leo of Waukon; two sisters, Mrs. John Moses and Mrs. Mary Moses, and one brother, L.A. Lestina, all of the Monona vicinity. _________________ From the December 15, 1938, edition of the Postville (IA) Herald Mrs. Frank Samek Passes On Wednesday Evening Mrs. Frank Samek, a resident of this community for the past 35 years, passed away last Wednesday evening at 5:45 o'clock at her home in Postville following a protracted illness and funeral services were held Saturday morning at 9:30 at St. Bridget's Catholic church with the Rev. P. Hogan officiating. Interment was made in the Bohemian cemetery near Watson, within a mile of her birthplace. As Emma Agnes Lestina, Mrs. Samek was born March 3, 1883, at Monona, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lestina. She was married to Frank Samek at Monona August 7, 1900, and in 1903 they came to Postville where they have since lived. She is survived by her husband, two sons, Raymond of Waterloo and Leo of Waukon, a brother, Frank Lestina, Watson, and two sisters, Mrs. John Moses and Mrs. Albert Moses, both of Monona. Mrs. Samek was a member of St. Bridget's church, of St. Bridget's Circle, Royal Neighbors of America and of the Legion Auxiliary, in all of which groups she took an active part.
