Marie Rodrigue was one of eight children of Jean Rodrigue and Marie Donatile Naquin. She was born in Lafourche Parish, Nov. 12, 1863. She is remembered as being very dignified, strong willed and deeply religious. [5]

In her notes about the family, Cheryl Courrege Burguieres wrote, "Grandmere met and married Jean Courrege in New Iberia in 1880. She became the typical matriarch of a large family, often exercising strict discipline over her lively brood." [5]

Death and Burial, 1946

"Gradmere died Feb. 20, 1946, at the age of 83, after a lengthy illness resulting from a heart condition which had bed-ridden her for four years," wrote Cheryl Courrege Burguieres. "A deep impression left with my mother, Irene L. Courrege, was the great devotion and care given to her in her illness, especially by her three daughters, Marguerite, Bertha, and Marie." [5]

Marie is buried in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in New Iberia, Louisiana.
