His Reg. saw action at Mine Run , Wilderness, VA, Cold Harbor, Waylon Railroad , Cedar Creek, and Petersburg, VA. These were some of the worst battles of the war. He was mustered out June 23, 1865. At Washington, D. C.

The History of Bedford ,Somerset, and Fulton Counties by Waterman and Wilkins published in 1884 states on page 381 that Emanuel leased a grist mill from the Adam Zembower family in 1882 on Evitts Creek in Bedford Co.
Emanuel and his family was found in Chaneysville, PA., Wolfsberg, PA, Rainsburg, and Bedford Bro. in PA, and Allegany Co. MD.
The reason for all the moving I understand is that his father leased mills for two or three years, and as the lease ran out he moved to another mill.
According to a deed found in the Fayette Co. PA. courthouse Deed Book 135, page 300, Emanuel bought a 200 + acre farm, known as The Oliver Place, from the Oliver heirs in March of 1895. In the spring of 1999 I found the foundation of the house Emanuel bought. ( Location of foundation was learned from Gene Porter, Emanuel's grandson. He remembers being there as a child. )
The property is located at, Casparis in Connellsville Township, Fayette Co. PA. His address at the time he bought the property is listed as Franklin Twp, Fayette Co. PA. I haven't found exactly when Emanuel and his family arrived in Fayette Co.,. I have found in Invalid Pension papers for Army Pension, that Emanuel was living in Owensdale, Fayette Co. PA. in September 20, 1891.
Emanuel suffered from lung and heart disease and Quince, a severe inflammation of the tonsils. His military records show he was disabled in August 1864, while in Halltown, VA , for several weeks, then returned to service.
The Fayette Co. census of 1900 for Connellsville Twp. shows Elizabeth as head of household and sons Charles, Edward, and John H ,daughters Carrie and Etta at home.
The census for the same locality shows Elizabeth and her son Charles still living in Connellsville Twp. in 1910. They later moved to South Connellsville, Pa. A short distance away. Charles lived with his mother until she died in 1933.

Emanuel's obituary appeared in the Uniontown, PA, Hearld Standard and the Connellsville, PA, Courier February 15, 1898.
